It’s that time of year again!  The McLean Youth Basketball Season is about to begin and with it comes our annual officials training sessions.  Each of these sessions are held in the Large Gym (Gym 2) at Longfellow Middle School.  This year there will continue to be three sessions:

Session A (Introduction to Officiating) is for officials entering their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year officiating basketball.  This session is designed to teach newer officials the expectations of the program as well as the game management skills necessary to have a successful officiating experience.

Session B (Mechanics of Officiating Basketball) is also for officials entering their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year officiating as well as any other official looking to brush up on his/her 2-Person Basketball Officiating Mechanics.  This session will focus on the practical side of how to officiate the game of basketball (i.e. positioning, areas of responsibility, signals, working with your partner, etc.).

Session C (MYB/NFHS Rules) is required for all officials and is strongly recommended for all coaches.  In this session, we will go through an overview of the NFHS Basketball Rules and MYB modifications to those rules.  In addition, we will discuss both rule changes and points of emphasis for the 2016-17 season.
