Coach Peter Young brings over 14 years of basketball coaching experience and a lifelong passion for developing players on and off the court. Most recently, he coached his son Grant in McLean recreational basketball and is now excited to take on a new challenge leading the Girls 6A Travel Team.

Peter's coaching journey began in his 20s on the McLean rec sidelines, and since then he has coached across multiple levels and programs. His experience includes AAU, Arlington Travel, and serving as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at the American International School of Cape Town (AISCT). Across each setting, Peter has emphasized skill development, teamwork, and a love of the game.

In addition to his coaching background, Peter brings a unique perspective from his professional career in education. He has served as a school principal for the past 13 years, and before that was a fifth-grade teacher. This lens of teaching and school leadership shapes his approach to coaching—prioritizing clear communication, building confidence, and fostering growth for each player.

With a balance of competitive coaching experience and a strong educational foundation, Peter is committed to helping his players improve, embrace challenges, and enjoy the journey of basketball.
